Auggie Navarro Boys Junior Golf Championship

The 2022 Auggie Navarro Boy’s City Junior Golf Tournament was held again at Arthur B. Sim Golf Course. Sim Park Golf Course is located in the center of Wichita, in the heart of the Museum District. A favorite golf course among generations of Wichita golfers, this winding course is nestled in the bend of the Arkansas River and offers natural beauty in the backdrop of downtown Wichita.

The Tournament is a 36 holes of stroke play. The first day was a warm and calm day and the first round leader was Colby Hays from Bishop Carroll. Colby fired a 68 (-3) to take a 3 shot lead over Noah Pirtle who shot an even par 71. Colby followed up his -3 with an even par 71 for a two day total of 139. Noah Pirtle took second overall with a 3 over 71-74 for a two day total of 145.

Noah Pirtle won his age group of the 14-15 year olds over Max Farber who shot 75-76 (151) and Colton Hoover, Talen Nasone and Kaden Leivian who all shot 155.

The 10-11 year old division was won by Logan Burke. Logan and the rest of the 10-11 year old juniors played 9 holes each day. Logan shot 51-45 to shoot a 2 day total of 96. Logan was a few shots back of the first day leader Carter Crowley. Carter ended up in second play with a 2 day total of 102. (49-53) Third place was held down by Rocky Krsnich who had a strong performance in his first tournament from the red tees for a 2 day total of 108. Gavin Schrum and Brett Sawyer rounded out the 10-11 year old juniors with 114 and 117 respectively.

The 12-13 year olds played 18 holes and played from the white tees. Jacobi Salyers was the wire to wire leader in the division who got off to a hot start with a 73 and shot a 81 on day two to win the division by four shots over Cohen Museousky who shot 76-82 in second Xayden Garcia in third with 77-84 161 and rounding out the 12-13 year old division was Cohen Hageman with 82-85.

Kiera Ronsick was the overall winner for the WAWGA girls division who shot an amazing 71-70 (-1) 141. A fantastic tournament for the golfer that plays her high school golf at Bishop Carroll. Naomi Kootz took second place with a 77 and an even par 71 in the second round for a 148 total. Rounding out the overall in third place was Ximena Serinana.

We’d like to thank the Wichita Golf Association, Bruce Lyon, Patricia Sherwood, and the WAWGA. The Golf Marathon paid for all the junior golfers green fees for this tournament.
